Luz visible: Se observa el iris del ojo pintado con una veladura de color verde bajo la que se distingue la técnica de la grisalla, que aplicó en la primera capa. El temple blanco consigue dar más brillo a la mirada y la pincelada del contorno del ojo aparece subrayada con un trazo rojizo con el que consigue dar profundidad, a la “maniera” de los maestros italianos.

Reflectografía infrarroja: Es una de las zonas en las que se intuye una mayor dedicación, el dibujo es muy detallado como podemos ver en el tratamiento de las pestañas.

Radiografía: Se muestran claramente la suma de capas que conforman la pintura.

Cartón Preparatorio: El ojo aparece remarcado por un trazo muy definido. Las pinceladas blancas corresponden con el estudio de luces y sombras que luego emplea en la pintura definitiva para obtener el acabado final.

Visible light: The iris is painted with a green glaze under which the grisaille is apparent. The application of white tempera adds brightness to the glance, while the use of red to underline the brushstrokes in the lower part of the eye provides depth in the maniera of the Italian Masters.

Infrared reflectography: IR shows that the eye is one of the areas where Dix might have spent more time working. The drawing is very detailed, as seen in the treatment of the eyelashes.

X-radiography: The number of layers that make up the painting is clearly shown.

Preparatory sketch: The eye appears outlined with a highly defined line. The white strokes correspond to the study of lights and shadows that Dix later used in the final painting.
